What to expect
Throughout this 9-week subject, students will engage with 6 modules. The subject aims to build students' understanding of the hospitality industry and develop knowledge, confidence and communication skills to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
What makes someone feel welcome even in a place they’ve never been? In this subject, you’ll step into the world of hospitality — where every interaction, smile, and detail shapes a guest’s experience.
You’ll explore how great service culture is built, how to understand and exceed guest expectations, and how to handle challenges with confidence and professionalism. From customer service to communication, teamwork to ethical responsibility, this subject prepares you to create moments that guests remember for all the right reasons.
Through tutorials, role-play, and real-world case studies, you’ll develop the confidence, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills that define hospitality professionals around the world.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this subject, you’ll be able to:- Demonstrate customer service skills that exceed guest expectations and enhance the overall hospitality experience.
- Develop a professional employability portfolio to demonstrate readiness to contribute to the hospitality sector.
- Exhibit problem-solving skills, adaptability, and initiative in responding to dynamic hospitality environments and customer needs.
- Evaluate the role and functions of the hospitality sector to facilitate ongoing improvement.
Student Experience
- Participate in self-paced online modules and live or recorded tutorials led by experts from Flight Centre Travel Academy.

- Receive one-on-one coaching calls, assessment assistance, and student wellness support as needed.
Study Mode & Structure
This subject runs over 9 weeks and includes:
- 3.3 hours per week of facilitated study consisting of attending class (live classes, tutorials, Q&A sessions) and engaging with facilitators (coaching calls, assessment feedback etc.)
- 7-10 hours per week of independent study (pre-readings, videos, assessment task progression and other learning activities)

Assessment
You’ll complete three assessments designed to help you apply your learning in realistic industry scenarios.
Assessments take place in weeks 3,6 & 9.
