From UK adventures to a new career in Travel

If you've ever returned from a life-changing trip and thought, "I can't go back to my 9-5", you're not alone. Kaylah, one of our amazing Enrolments Consultants, tells us about her live-abroad holiday in the UK changed everything for her. On a whim, she applied to Flight Centre - and that decision opened the door to a career I never knew existed.

What inspired your journey into the travel industry?

My live abroad holiday in the UK definitely made me fall in love with travel. When I returned home, I really had a hard time plucking a career out of thin air and definitely did not want an boring office job after adventuring around for so long. I applied for FC on a whim and got it, fell in love with the company.

One of the best memories I have with FC is, I gained a TL position and made the conference deadline by 1 week. I had been a team leader for 3 weeks when we went and I was with some of the best people in the company. I remember being in Bali with amazing people, a little too much liquor and Eye of the Tiger by Katy Perry was playing - I remember feeling so amazing, like anything was possible if you work towards it.

What was your first 'big adventure' after stepping in the world of travel?

One of the big adventures I had after stepping into the world of Travel (Flight Centre) was a Greece Famil. I did not choose the destination, but my oh my was I happy. I learnt so much about Athens and architecture on this trip. Having this drive really drove my professional and kept me focused on the industry.

How did you career in travel open up a world of opportunities?

I would never have had half of the opportunities to travel without working for Flight Centre, it's really a gateway to see the world. I think the culture has always celebrated and incentivised travel opportunities (industry info nights would have giveaways, staff benefits, etc). These avenues really equip help launch us into the world and grow our wonderlust.
