FC Appointments Share Their 2015 Travel Trend Predictions

2015 Travel Trend Predictions

Travel trends in 2014 saw the rise of the travel blogger, hotels making an effort to keep things local, and the rise of smart design in travel (hello Uber!). To get ready for another great year in travel, we’ve asked First Class Appointments to reveal their top three travel trends to watch out for in 2015.

The Mobile Age

We say 2015 is the year when self-service check-in counters at airports will become the norm. Apple’s Passbook and similar Smartphone apps allow boarding passes to pop up when travellers approach the gate.

This means a more streamlined check-in process and no need to hang onto those paper tickets!

Surveys show travellers prefer to use mobile apps to check their flight status and, while only 43% of airlines currently offer this service on their website, by the end of 2015 it’s predicted 90% of airlines will have their own apps to keep customers up to speed.

Did you know…? At the end of 2014, just 2% of airline sales were made through a mobile device. Some sources believe mobile could count for as much as 50% of online bookings by 2017.

A New Class of Seats

Singapore Airlines recently confirmed it will introduce a fourth class of seating towards the end of 2015 – a true sign that Premium Economy is here to stay.

Finnair and Lufthansa have also recently showcased their own ‘luxury’ economy classes, and Japan Airlines have completed their version with a new makeover.

With cheaper price points across premium economy seats and business-class-style perks and amenities, what’s not to love?

Solo Female Travellers

No doubt a result of female travel bloggers taking the media by storm during 2014, hotels and resorts are now going above and beyond to cater to solo female travellers.

Wander Tours offers adventurous women-only tours around the world, marketing it as a great place to meet new girlfriends.

Jumeirah Emirates Towers now offer an exclusive Chopard Ladies Floor, featuring a cosmetics fridge, lavish bath products and in-room yoga equipment. Pack your bags, ladies!
