How Studying Travel Helped Kenny Chan Land a Working Holiday in Canada

Travel Academy student Kenny Chan

Today we catch up with New South Wales Travel Academy student Kenny Chan to hear the highlights from his time studying travel at the Academy.

What did you like most about your travel course?

The course was just generally great! The classes were very lively and energetic, which is a true reflection of what it's like to work in a real store.

All the trainers were so supportive and friendly, teaching not only the technical side of things but also giving advice for your career.

My trainersAsh and Lauren taught effective sales techniques complete with interactive role-plays, where all the students and even our instructors got involved.

During the final term we learned about how to budget – an important aspect to every business!

How has studying with the Travel Academy helped you reach your goals?

I can confidently say studying with the Academy has enhanced my travel industry career prospects.

Along with receiving industry knowledge from former travel consultants, the course drastically improved my sales and management abilities.

From speaking to those in the industry, I think it would be fair to say Travel Academy graduates are seen as more employable by tourism businesses.

Would you recommend studying at Flight Centre Travel Academy to someone who has a passion for travel?

Travel Academy has the best teaching materials, and what really sets them apart is that all of the trainers are former travel agents themselves.

Between them, they have years of travel and tourism experience, making them the perfect teachers if you're looking at starting a career in tourism.

What advice would you give students who are just starting their studies?

Before you start your studies, make sure you set a goal for what you want to achieve. For me, I wanted to explore more and expand my understanding of the travel industry.

Completing a working holiday will be a major milestone in getting my travel career where I want it to be.

My other piece of advice would be to work hard and get motivated. You need to meet your deadlines and stay on top of your workload. If you see an assignment coming up, get cracking on it straight away!
