Isaac's Dream Career as a Flight Attendant

ISAAC LEE WSF 4

For Isaac, enrolling at Flight Centre Travel Academy was the first step toward something he'd always wanted — a career in the sky. Today, he's cabin crew with Virgin Australia, based in Sydney, and doing exactly what he set out to do.

Everyday is different in the world of aviation

On a typical flying day, Isaac wakes up, gets into uniform, meets his crew for a briefing, and heads to the aircraft for safety and security checks before passengers begin boarding. It's structured, purposeful, and every day is a little different.

There's definitely a lot of different aspects to my role, whether it be on the ground or when I'm flying.

It's the kind of role where no two days are the same — and the Work, Study + Fly program prepares you for exactly that.

Getting comfortable being around people and having conversations — that's a skill I carry with me every single day." — Isaac Lee, Virgin Australia Cabin Crew & WSF Graduate

The Diploma gives you more than a qualification

One of the biggest things Isaac took from the program wasn't a module or an assessment — it was the confidence to walk into a room full of strangers and hold his own.

The ability to put myself out there and connect with people that I wouldn't normally connect with... getting comfortable being around people and having conversations with others — that's definitely a skill that I carry through with me today.

In a role where you're working alongside a new crew and serving hundreds of passengers every flight, that skill is everything.

The program also gave Isaac real clarity on the role he was chasing. "The diploma definitely confirmed a lot of the questions I had regarding the role" — so by the time he walked into his Virgin Australia assessment day, he wasn't guessing. He was ready.

The Flight Centre Travel Academy team has his back the whole way

Isaac was quick to credit Analeigh (the Work, Study + Fly Program Leader) for the support he received throughout his journey.

Any issues that I had or any questions or concerns, she was really quick to respond to me — whether that was directly the content or helping me prepare for an interview with Virgin. Mock interviews for the assessment day — the Travel Academy were really involved, really just wanting nothing but success for the students.

That's not something you get everywhere. And it doesn't stop until you've got the job.

His advice to you? Show up for yourself

Isaac's message to students who are just starting out is simple and direct:

Put yourself out of your comfort zone and just give everything a go. The diploma — you get out of it what you put into it.

When asked to describe Flight Centre Travel Academy in three words, Isaac didn't hesitate for long:

Intriguing. Development. Success.

You're closer than you realise to a career in aviation - and just like Isaac, if you show up for yourself, step out of your comfort zone and lean on the support systems around you, you may find yourself on a new, exciting pathway to a new role!
