Michael turned his love for travel into a career!

Michael always had a love for travel and tourism and one day he decided to turn his passion into a career! We talk to Michael about his journey into the industry...

What motivated you to inquire about the Flight Centre Travel Academy Diploma?

I have always had a massive interest in travel and tourism and figured that a career in the industry, specifically as a travel consultant, would really suit my interests.

What was the ultimate deciding factor to enroll in the course?

The deciding factor that pushed me to apply for the course was travelling overseas (USA and Canada). This was my first 'big trip' overseas and I fell in love with the travel and tourism. Within a month of getting back from my trip I was enrolled in the course and I have never looked back.

What parts of the course did you enjoy?

I thoroughly enjoyed the on-campus classes, especially Successful Sales Techniques. It was after this particular class, and through the help of the wonderful trainers, that I was set on the right path for my future.

What did you find difficult about the course and how did you overcome it?

I've always had a tough time staying focused with my work and reading the online modules was a bit of a challenge. Thankfully, the learning materials were really engaging and informative so I had an easy time staying focused and on task!

Where are you now?

Now I've landed my dream job as a travel consultant at Flight Centre Fountain Gate!

What would your advice be to other people looking to apply?

If it wasn't for the Diploma I would not be in the position I am today. My advice is to take a deep breath and dive right in, if you have any interest in tourism I'm sure you'll love it as much as I did!
