FEE-HELP - How does it work?

Our course is 100% FEE-HELP approved for Australian and eligible NZ citizens, which means you don’t have to pay anything upfront. The total cost is $18,800 for all 8 subjects – which is pretty standard for uni-level study in Australia.

FEE-HELP is essentially a government loan for the cost of your studies, so there are eligibility requirements, application documents and fine print. And yep - it might look a little scary at first but it's not as scary as it seems we promise!

We will guide you through so you can focus on getting ready for your studies, not stressing about fees!

Am I eligible for FEE-HELP?

Eligibility: To be eligible, there are a few government requirements such as:

  • Be an Australian citizen or certain NZ citizen or other visa holder (Permanent Residents are not eligible for FEE-HELP),
  • Be studying with an approved provider (that’s us!)
  • Have an available HELP balance - if you have studied at a tertiary level before, check your HELP balance here.

Make sure to check the full list of eligibility rules on the official Study Assist website.

When do I pay it back?

Repayments: You only start paying it back once you're earning enough money to hit the governement threshold, and even then, repayments are small and come out automatically with your tax. There’s no big interest, just a small government fee – it’s all designed to be easy to manage.

If you want to know the exact numbers – like how much you need to earn before you start paying it back, how much the repayments are, or what the interest rate is – you can find it all on the  official government Study Assist loan repayments website.

How do I apply?

You’ll need to fill in a FEE-HELP form (because it’s a government loan), and yep – it might look a bit scary at first. But don’t worry! You can always ask a family member for help, or we’ll guide you through it. It’s not as scary as it seems, promise.

If you receive an offer from Flight Centre Travel Academy and Torrens University Australia, you will also receive a Request for FEE-HELP Assistance Form that you will need to complete to defer payment of some, or all, of your tuition fees. You will need to quote your tax file number or provide a Certificate of Application for a Tax File Number.

The form must submitted to Torrens University Australia during your enrolment process. Your enrolment consultant will help you with this.

What if I'm not eligible for FEE-HELP?

Students who are ineligible for FEE-HELP are required to pay the subject cost at the time of their census date.

See the section below for Permanent Residents and non FEE-HELP students for discounts on upfront payments.
When does the cost of my studies hit my FEE-HELP?

Your payment to Torrens University Australia will happen on census date for each subject. You will only get charged for the subjects you are studying in that semester at $2,350 per subject.

What happens if I withdraw or defer my studies?

If you withdraw or defer before the census date for your semester, you won’t have to pay for those subjects — not now and not later through FEE-HELP.

If you withdraw or defer after the census date, you’ll still need to pay the fees for any subjects in which you were enrolled.

The requirements and responsibilities for enrolment can be found here on the Torrens Policies and Forms page.

What happens if I fail a subject?

If you don’t pass the subject, you’ll need to re-sit it, and that means paying for it again.

If you’re unsure or have questions, chat with an Enrolments Expert or your Program Leader if you’re already studying with us – we’re here to help!
