Tara is one of our Enrolment Consultants and has been in the travel industry for over 5 years. Tara swapped a career in massage therapy for a career in travel, starting her career as a top selling consultant.

Why did you choose to work in the travel industry?

After working in the Allied Health industry for over a decade as a Sports Therapist and Dietician, I was feeling very restless with my career pathways available to me. After doing taking a 2 year working holiday in Canada, I returned to Australia with the realisation that I needed to change career and there was no better time as any to make it happen. I identified what my passions are; making a positive difference in people's lives and of course, travelling. The penny finally dropped and knew that I needed to combine the two together.

Career history?

I have worked in the travel industry for 5 years. My time started as a Travel Consultant in Brisbane. Within my first 12 months I took on the Assistant Leadership role within store and contributed to a double in store earnings within this period. I was honoured to be one of the top selling travel consultants in QLD for 3 years running with the support from a loyal customer portfolio. I have been working with the Enrolments Team at Flight Centre Travel Academy since June 2018. We have seen our team double in this time which is very exciting.

Favourite part of your job?

Being able to learn about others motivations for wanting to change their career and playing a part in what is a life changing experience.

Favourite place you've travelled?

Iceland. If it's not on your bucket list, put it on there.

Funny travel memory/mishap?

It is embarassing as I have a few that I could probably write a blog about it. Booking my flights in the reverse direction. Was supposed to be travelling Edinburgh to Paris and didn't notice until I got to the airport that I had booked it Paris to Edinburgh. Nursing a killer hangover, I didn't have the mental faculties to deal with this at the time. Lucky the Scot's have a great sense of humour, calmed me down, gave me a Berocca and quickly helped me out.

Fun fact about you?

I used to be a massage therapist and have treated Russel Crowe, Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton.
